Outdoors/Nature

Growing up in the north woods of Wisconsin, I learned to appreciate outdoors and nature. I often walked deep into woods exploring, occasionally stumbling upon a Great Horned Owl or something else I would find spectacular. I feel I am almost as technical about the natural world as I am in computing.

Photography

I sort of stumbled into photography. Initially uncertain of the qualities of captured still images, I bought a nice Canon EOS a2e 35MM film camera and started to tinker with nature photography. After finding I had a eye in capturing special moments, and noticing the details that could be learned from the photo after the capture of the image, I became much more interested and passionate about photography, migrating to higher end digital Canon SLR bodies and lenses and eventually buying a high end acrylic enclosure for capturing wonderful images underwater.

Scuba Diving

As a child I was always fascinated with underwater sea life and the seas, having asthma, I was repeatedly told I could never learn to do scuba. Several years ago during a visit to pick up some snorkeling gear at a local dive shop, I explained that I couldn't take up scuba when the shop manager asked me why I hadn't. He informed me that a lot had changed and I should contact my doctor if I have controlled asthma (which I do). I was extremely excited to find out that I could take up scuba, from which I have, and have taken the open water, advanced open water, rescue diver, and dive master courses sinse.

Family

Having the best companion (fiancee) and daughter any man could ask for, I have to say I am incredibly lucky. I love taking weekend camping trip adventures with my family and taking my daughter to her weekly swimming lessons. My family is what motivates me every day to make the day the best possible day.
